“Aunt Mee, Aunt Mee, are you done yet? We are already waiting in front of the house.”

The roaring sound of children, one group of about 3-5 celebrities came from afar in the early morning of every Saturday and Sunday. It is a sound that the villagers in that area are familiar with as well. Because that's the sound of “The Youth Volunteer Leader Cares for the Elderly” who is going to visit the homes of the elderly/disabled/patients stuck at home in bed with the village health volunteers. As for Aunt Mee, what the children call it, is the Volunteer Adult, the team leader who will take the children down to visit the house.

“Leader of the volunteer Noi” is one of the cooperation of “SOS Children’s Village Nong Khai” with two government agencies, namely Ban Nahee Sub-District Health Promoting Hospital and Khai Bok Wan Subdistrict Administrative Organization with the goal of encouraging children to have knowledge have the correct skills to care for the elderly who cannot help themselves. This is to instill in children a volunteer spirit in caring for the elderly who lack care in their own communities.

Nong Plammi, 10 years old, one of the leaders of volunteer Noi Tonkla Dee, who relies on helping in the community as her own creative space, said, “I saw seniors working to help old people and sick people before. There is news about the recruitment of the leader, I do not hesitate to apply. I want to have a friend on vacation and want to help with Aunt Mee's work. Help the doctor and want to help take care of the elderly. An old man in my village."

Currently, Nong Plammi lives with her mother and one older brother which his brother is studying at the college level. The father passed away two years ago, leaving the burden of family responsibilities on the mother alone. Her mother worked as a golf course caddy. The income depends on the number of customers who come to use the golf course each day. Mother had to get up early to cook and drive her brother Plammi to school. After school, Nong Plammi's older brother had to walk home for about 2-3 kilometers because the mother had not finished work and had no transport to go home. On Saturdays and Sundays, mothers have to ask relatives next door to take care of their children instead, as mothers have to come home late at night at work. Make the area happy with the family of the children at this age decreases.

But when Nong Plammi comes to play a role and acts as the young volunteer, we will experience the happiness that Nong Plammi has obtained through smiles and laughter. This may be because Nong Plammi met own “creative space”, learning space Sharing space, giving the area of smiles that patients and their relatives give back.

And this is another project that SOS Children’s Villages Thailand recognized the importance of children In the future, they will grow up to be valuable individuals who drive our Thai society to be better.
